Happy Thanksgiving 2009!

Well, it's that time again...Thanksgiving! It seems like I can already smell the cakes and pies, fried turkey and dressing, collard greens, mac-a-roni and cheese, and more. Homes across the nation will be filled with these foods and more coupled with the laughter and joy of family and friends celebrating and making confessions of Thanksgiving! Find out how to celebrate Thanksgiving inside...

Like Christmas, I believe that Thanksgiving is one of those days that we should celebrate year around.  The Bible declares in I Thessalonians 5:18, "In every thing give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." We should always be thankful unto the Lord for the many blessings that God consistently bestows upon us.  His faithfulness is immeasureable.  Even when we are unfaithful to Him, He's faithful to us.

So, whether you have a big dinner or not, remember to truly be thankful.  Also, let's remember those that are less fortunate than us.  Truly, all of the blessing that God has blessed us with are not just for us, but they are for us to also share with others so that they may know the love and grace of God.

So, as we celebrate this year, remember to go around the table and provide an opportunity for everyone to make a Thanksgiving confession unto the Lord.  For truly He is the reason for our priviledge to celebrate Thanksgiving!

In closing, here's a poem by Mary Fairchild that is dear to my heart and I would like to share it with you. Maybe you will consider sharing it with someone else!

Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day
We bow our hearts to You and pray.
We give You thanks for all You've done
Especially for the gift of
Jesus, Your Son.

For beauty in nature, Your glory we see
For joy and health, friends and family,
For daily provision, Your mercy and care
These are the blessings You graciously share.
So today we offer this response of praise
With a promise to follow You all of our days.
