There are some people who are born to lead and there are others who are born leaders.  Skilled and anointed, Dr. Cozzette Lyons-Jones is not just a leader, but a builder of people who inspires those with whom she works and serves.  Dr. Lyons-Jones is the founder of Sarah's Daughters, a community based mentoring program for women and youth.  Under her leadership, over 400 members and thousands of program participants have been mentored and encouraged to have better lives. Certainly, Dr. Lyons-Jones' own work and missions have been inspired because of her own personal testimony. Born to two teenage parents in the inner city of Buffalo, New York, granted emancipation at age 17, and personal struggles with illiteracy, truly reveals God's glory and hand upon her life and proves that all things are possible through Jesus Christ.

Dr. Lyons-Jones holds a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and a Medical Doctorate from the State University of New York.  Prior to her present position as a Physician in the field of Internal Medicine, Dr. Lyons-Jones was an Assistant Professor in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.  While on staff as a teacher at the St. Mary Medical Center, Long Beach, she also fulfilled the position of Co-Medical Director at Seaview Health Center in Wilmington.  However, more significant than her academic achievements and work experience is her relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Dr. Lyons-Jones is a member of the Cottonwood Christian Church, where Bayless Conley is the pastor.  Having served in ministry for almost a decade at the City of Refuge (COR), where her father-in-law, Bishop Noel Jones is pastor, Dr. Lyons-Jones still maintains an ongoing ministry partnership with the COR. Her ministerial experience includes participating as a Board Member with the Women's Global Resource & Development Initiative, Inc., Chairperson of the COR Special Educational Ministries Project (charged to restructure  Christian Education, ministerial training and licensing), Board Member of the Noel Jones Bible Institute (served as former administrator), and Founder and Advisor to the COR Medical Response Team.    Dr. Lyons-Jones' faithfulness and strength in church government and administration has helped this builder, build.

The expanse of Dr. Lyons-Jones' calling transcends the pulpit.  She is a teacher, preacher, prophet, mother, wife and leader among her peers. Although she has established works and influence in academia, the church, the medical field, and our nation's government, Dr. Lyons-Jones continues to go into arenas where room is made.  She recently embarked upon a new frontier of international missions work under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Cecilia Bryant in the Women's Global Resource Development Initiative, Inc. where she participated in medical and prayer missions to South Africa and beyond.  Additionally, Dr. Lyons-Jones has been an invited panelist for the Physician for Human Rights' Health Professional Christian Leadership Summit on Global HIV/AIDS, where health professionals gathered to educate the community and policy makers about HIV prevention measures.  Dr. Lyons-Jones also formally met with members of the United States Congress to encourage continued/greater global AIDS funding.
